Can AI Provide Passive Income? Week 14 Insights

As I prepare to head off on holiday, I’ve been reflecting on both the recent performance of my AI-generated content and a decision that could shape the next phase of the project.
With that in mind, I am excited to share the outcome of the first fully AI-generated video I released, even though the views aren’t where I would like them to be right now.
Small Changes, Big Results?
Earlier this week, I made a few updates to the channel – namely, improving my metadata and updating the keyword section in the settings. While these tweaks may seem small, they’ve coincided with a noticeable uptick in performance:
- My first long-form video climbed to 147 views
- My second long-form video (fully AI-generated) has reached 100 views
It’s too early to say these improvements are causal, but it’s an encouraging sign that optimisation still plays a key role in discoverability. This is something I’ll be looking to explore further on my return.
The New Channel Question
Despite steady growth, a piece of research caught my attention: that when a channel changes niche, especially from Shorts to long-form, YouTube continues to serve your new content to the old audience. If they don’t engage, your new videos can fall flat, regardless of their quality. That really made me pause.
It sparked the idea of creating a new channel entirely focused on the AI-generated content I’m now exploring. While it’s a daunting thought, it could provide the cleaner slate that gives YouTube clearer signals about my content and audience.
For now, I’ve parked the idea, as my priority is enjoying a break. But it’s something I’ll seriously consider for the weeks ahead.
Mixed Bag from the AI Tools
One of the big themes this week has been inconsistency. Creating AI imagery and video content remains unpredictable. Some results are genuinely impressive, matching my ideas with visuals that look surprisingly real. Others are wildly off, even when I provide near-identical prompts.
The most frustrating part is that these tools are paid. It’s one thing to get a bad result using a free trial, but when you’re on a subscription, quality control starts to matter more. That said, I still believe this technology is worth investing in, so I’m considering upgrading to a more comprehensive plan when I return, giving me a better chance to create without credit constraints.
What Comes Next
With a few days off ahead, this feels like a natural point to reassess. I’m leaving with some positive momentum, clearer insights on content strategy, and a growing curiosity about what’s possible with more advanced AI tools.
If you’re exploring passive income, AI content, or simply testing a new creative workflow, have you considered whether your current channel or platform is the right one for what you’re building now?
I’ll be back soon with fresh ideas, renewed energy, and plenty to experiment with.
