Can AI Provide Passive Income? Week 5 Insights

The challenge of building a passive income with AI-driven content creation is full of twists and turns.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve encountered this week? Once you choose a strategy, you have to stick with it long enough to see if it works.
In this update, I’ll break down why it’s important to stick to your strategy, lessons learned, and the progress made this week.
If you are looking at ways that AI can generate passive income, keep reading.
The Pivot That Wasn’t
At the start of this month, I set myself an ambitious target: 21 Shorts and 1 Long-Form Video to build momentum on my faceless YouTube channel.
I got off to a great start, posting daily. Then, I stumbled across a YouTube video discussing "breathability"—the idea that you should let Shorts sit and gain traction before posting again. So, I pulled back.
After three days sitting back, I noticed that whilst my videos were performing well, they were not performing above and beyond the historic Shorts posted. This led me to question whether this approach was right for me. More research led me to a creator who made over $8,000 in 100 days with a faceless channel, by posting daily.
That was the moment I realised: I had to recommit to my original plan.
Small Changes, Big Impact
Despite reverting to my original strategy of daily posting, one benefit of this “breathing” time, was being able to explore new concepts to improve my Shorts. I took what I had learned and made a few adjustments:
- Longer Shorts: Increased my video length to around 39 seconds, as YouTube is more likely to promote longer videos and Shorts.
- No More "Subscribe & Comment" Call to Action at the End: It was turning people away and reducing the percentage of the videos people watched.
- Better Visuals: Reduced the blur on my background imagery to improve clarity.
- Add Video Tags: On the details page of your video, under a “See More” dropdown, you can add tags which help with the circulation of your videos. Make sure to add these whenever posting.
- Improved my Channel’s Logo & Banner: Gave the channel a more professional feel, which I believe contributed to my increase in subscribers (now up to 28).
The Reality of Progress
Building a YouTube channel with AI support still takes time. Even with automation, each Short takes about 1.5 hours to create, and I need to find ways to increase output without sacrificing quality.
One idea is to focus on high-impact topics, such as an upcoming video idea, which requires more editing skills than I currently have. The key takeaway? I can’t let perfectionism slow me down.
Moving Forward
With Week 5 now behind me, I’m refocused on the original strategy I set myself at the end of Week 4.
The lesson here is simple: Don’t second-guess your strategy just because a new piece of advice pops up. Stick with it, make small improvements, and give it time to work before making major shifts.
