First Steps on a New Journey

It felt unusual this week, not having an AI project to work on, but at the same time, extremely refreshing.

I used my normal amount of time spent on AI to clarify my thoughts around what I want to explore next.

The benefit of starting a 12-week plan recently was that I included an idea of what project I want to look at alongside AI, which will now form my sole ambition: launch a personal YouTube channel.

📹 The Plan

For a few years, I have been fascinated by YouTube channels that focus on productivity and self-improvement. I have subscribed to channels with a large existing subscriber base, as well as having seen some channels develop and grow over time.

This led me to feel like this is something I would like to try. But there was always some reason not to start.

Recently, I decided that the time to start for me is now.

🧐Areas of Interest

The channel is going to initially explore broader themes around productivity, self-improvement, and ways to reduce the anxiety and addictive feelings so many of us feel around modern technology.

I have already begun work on video number one, which will be a book summary of Limitless by Jim Kwik.

Limitless was an important book for me, coming as a timely reminder that we can all learn and develop. A large part of this book addresses changing our own mentality about the fact that we can grow, develop, and become more intelligent.

There are some additional basic content ideas in the pipeline, but they will require further detail and planning. 

📘Book Notes

With a summary of Limitless as my first planned video, this week I needed to revisit the notes I made and published on my website. I recognised the need to update these notes, so you can find those here.

📚What I’ve Just Read

American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins

This was a fictional book about a mother and son who must flee Mexico, towards the United States, as they escape a drug kingpin. The story is a harrowing account of a migrant’s experience, and the brutality of the path they must undertake.

I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in understanding more about the migrant experience. This would also be particularly hard-hitting for any parents who know the concerns and challenges around protecting their children.

💭Closing Thoughts

I am both nervous and excited for the period ahead. Putting myself out there is something that I have limited previously, so this will be a major stepping-stone.

With the skills I learnt around video capture, editing and posting, during the AI project, I feel that now is the right time to take this leap.
